Technical Questions
(1) Do I need a registered building practitioner to install the pergola for my house?
According to the Victorian Building Authority, pergolas attached to your home are generally considered domestic building works, and you will need to engage an appropriately registered building practitioner, regardless of the contract price. That means, if you are installing one of our wall-mount pergolas, you need a registered building practitioner to do the installation. If you are installing one of the free-standing pergolas, and the product price is under $10,000, a registered building practitioner is not required for the installation. As this is the requirement of Victoria, please always consult your state authority for the requirement of installing the pergolas.
(2) Do I need a council permit for the pergola or gazebo?
According to the Victorian Building Authority, wall-mount pergolas/gazebos always require a building permit regardless of the size. For the free-standing pergolas/gazebos, if they are less than 10 square metres, less than 3 metres high, and sit more than 1 metres from the boundary, a building permit is not required. As this is the requirement of Victoria, please always consult your state authority for the requirement of the building permits for pergolas/gazebos.
(3) Does Outmos offer pergola installation services?
Unfortunately, Outmos does not offer installation services for pergolas. However, we do have affiliated installers in the metro Melbourne area. Please talk to our customer service team to get more detailed information.
(4) How easy it is to install the pergola?
For small-sized pergolas, installation typically takes 2 people approximately 2-4 hours. For larger sizes, it may require 3 people and around 3-5 hours for installation. However, the duration can vary significantly depending on individual circumstances and experience.
